Malifaux - Outcasts

Malifaux - Outcasts

This week i have been painting up my other Malifaux crew, yet again placing my 40K Orks on hold.
As it was only five miniatures i didn't feel too bad.

The colours schemes  i used where just the ones in the artwork and on the back of the box, so i didn't break new ground in that aspect.

now i should make a note to you, that these pictures where taken on a blackberry, as my camera is having issues. As a result the picture quality isn't as good as i would of liked.

in order of completion :

Bishop (Pit fighter)

Steam fitter Johan

Taelor ( Relic hammer enthusiast)

Koralon Warp Portals - Urban war

Koralon Warp Portals

With my Koralon force containing a Phazon and Warp portals essential. I am going to take you through how i made my own simple and easy to make warp portals.

Template: i used the Template from the download section of the urban war website here
The warp portal are the green circles at the top

Once i had cut them out i put them on a 30mm lip base, as you can see it fits perfect in the centre.

so now we know its the correct size, time for the modelling of the portal

To begin i covered the centre part of the base in a layer of GW green stuff its best to make this not too thin as it needs to be sculpted slightly.

Green stuff on base

The next stage is to create swirling pattern (it doesn't have to be swirls, but i like the idea of this effect)
I used a sculpting tool and made cut circles on the GS (Green Stuff), its better if some of the lines overlap.
when i made mine i pushed some of the edges up where i cut into the GS, so it has some raised areas

Swirling effect in GS

Painting the Warp portals

I started off with a black basecoat.

Chaos black

First coat of Dark Angels green

The next stage i layered on snot green and adding skull white for subsequent highlights to a pure white edges.

highlighted to white

I then added a glaze of yellow ink

Yellow glazed

Then the edges highlighted back up to skull white

Final Warp Portals

So that's how to make simple but effective Warp Portals

Bushido -The Prefecture of Ryu

Bushido -The Prefecture of Ryu

"Bushido is a game of savage battles, of cunning stratagems and last-ditch defences, and where debts of honour are paid in blood. In Bushido, the fate of the world hangs not on armies but on individual heroes, men and women of extraordinary capacity, attuned to the all-permeating life force known as Ki. This force is the very fabric of the universe, and those with the appropriate training or natural talent can tap into this energy source and gain seemingly superhuman powers. In the world of Bushido, the delicate tapestry of Ki – and thus the universe itself –is threatened by the forces of imbalance, and it is up to you to protect it – or help rip it apart. In a game of Bushido, nothing less than the universe itself is at stake. Are you ready for the challenge of the Way of the Warrior?"

Bushido is an oriental fantasy tabletop miniature battle game for two players. Each player commands a force of no more than a handful of individuals, represented by 32mm metal miniatures. These forces meet on the battlefield and the commanders (the players, that is) try to outwit, outfight and outlive the opposing force and fulfil their battle objectives while denying the enemy theirs. If you have played tabletop miniature games before, Bushido falls into the ‘skirmish game’ category: all miniatures represent individuals and your force consists of a small group of unique characters rather than a big faceless army. A game of Bushido is fast-moving, flexible and filled with strategizing, counter-strategizing and counter-counter-strategizing. Your tactical acumen is important, but as dice add an element of randomness, so too is your ability to think on your feet.

"The Dragon Clan won the rights to colonize the Westward Isles in a series of duels with their rivals, the Shiho Clan. However, when the Emperors vessel expired, and his young heir too young and inexperienced to concern himself with the pretty disputes at the fringes of his lands, the promise of sole settlement rights died with him. The newly formed Prefecture of Ryu found themselves yet again in conflict with their old enemies, the Shiho Clan. Now, the Prefecture’s grasp of power is weakened, due to the recent Tsunami. Their forces are in disarray, they are fighting on all fronts in the aftermath of the disaster. But still the men and women of the Dragon are ready to take their place at Destiny’s table, uniting the human world by defending it against all threats."

Starter set i got was The Prefecture of Ryu and it contains:
  • Five finely sculpted pewter miniatures:
    • Hiro Takashi, The Dragons claw

I will be basing my force with temple bases, following this tutorial here
(I attempted this tutorial, but i didn't have the right thickness of balsa wood to hand  or the gauze, The balsa wood i used was a lot thicker, as you can see in the pictures. so nothing wrong with the tutorial, just me)

    Yoshio - Ashigaru

Minuro - Ashigaru with flintlock Arquebus

Note:
" I ran this mission for the first time just last week. i gave the kill team of six marine kill team thirty requisition points each (180 for the total team). which may have been too much. They managed to buy enough special ammunition for the mission (I did give them ammo for the mission instead of the one clip it was supposed to be) and the devastator in the kill-team also managed to get a Missile launcher with Frag and krak missiles. I should also note that i hadn't used the updated errata so bolters were able to go full auto to devastating effect. so if anybody has used this mission with the errata in mind, any feedback on how the mission worked would be appreciated"
