Inquisition Orders –Part one

The Mission

Onboard the Deathwatch strike cruiser Spear of Osiris Captain Lepidus spoke to the arrayed space marines in front on him, next to the captain was a holographic projection of a human, the stylised I marking him out as a member of the emperors holy inquisition. ”Battle brothers, we will soon be coming out of the warp at the Agri world of Triplex Mundi. One of Inquisitor Margallus’s inquisitorial cell’s are starnded in the besieged Talon spaceport.”
The holographic representation of Inquisitor Margallus spoke “They are in need of rescue, from our reports it seems that a number of them are injured. On my orders, they must be extracted, that is your primary objective. They have some important information crucial to my investigation, so they must all be extracted alive.”

The captain explained “The Orks have surrounded the starport and have set up four anti aircraft emplacements to stop any craft from leaving the planet. These must be destroyed before a landing zone can be secured. Once that has been accomplished I will send down a Thunderhawk gunship to take you and the injured inquisitorial cell off planet”

Primary Objective: Rescue Inquisitorial Cell
Secondary Objective: Secure a landing zone
Tertiary Objective: Destroy anti aircraft emplacements

As the mission was a fast attack, the assault marine from the Ultramarines chapter called Varenus took up the mantle of leader for this mission. He swore his oath of the moment. An ancient oath of glory passed the Adeptus astartes lips.
The other five members of the deathwatch kill team requisitioned some additional wargear for the mission.
(Requisition points for mission for the team 120)

The Space wolf devastator filled his heavy bolter ammo pack with kraken rounds.
Makradon the Dark angel tactical marine requisitioned an auspex and a stummer in addition to his hellfire bolter clip.
The Imperial fist apothecary acquired the use of an immolation rifle
The Librarian from the Dark sentinels picked up a clip of hellfire shells for his bolter.
Everyone picked up more frag and krak grenades

Triplex Mundi

The planet Triplex mundi of came into view as the strike cruiser smoothly left warp space. Wreckage of Ork and imperial ships floated scattered around the planet. Further away the space battle raged on. The strike cruiser entered geo stationary orbit over the spaceport. Soon the black clad Adeptus astartes embarked into the drop pod. The drop pod was fired at the planets surface. It shook violently as it entered the planets atmosphere, the strapped in space marines took little notice.

The pod clipped a building as it plummeted down to land, the retro engines engaged, slowing the craft as the pod landed. The doors surrounding the craft blew open. The Marines vision was filled with Orks. It was the apothecary who let his bolter sing out first, the two assault marines charged out and attacked the horde with bolt pistol and chainsword. The Dark angel fired off hellfire rounds cutting down even more of the foul greenskins. The heavy bolter rained out a deadly hail of bolter shells reducing the last of the Orks to fleshy mess. The space marines on the drop pod had to quickly active their mag boots in their power armour as the pod rose nine meters back into the air before slamming back down to the broken ground. Looking around to see the cause of this disturbance, seeing Kestyr, the Dark sentinel librarian’s arm glowing slightly. Jumping off the drop pod the imperial fist consumed some of the nearest Ork’s flesh using his Omophagea, but found little information to be of use.

Gun emplacement one

Scanning the area the first Ork anti aircraft emplacement was found on the top of a four story building just a few streets away. Coming in the opposite direction a mob of Orks could bee seen approaching. Varenus gave the order to continue with the Apothecary and the Devastator becoming the rearguard.
At the bottom of the building with the gun emplacement, Veranus could see it was lightly defended. Only a handful of Orks and a larger Ork of the Noble caste guarded the bottom of the building. He activated his Jump pack and charged in to attack the Nob. The Ork Nob deftly dodging the roaring chainsword. Soon the blood angel followed suit and sliced the Nob across its midriff, it struck back at the ultramarine, its choppa bouncing off the assault marine’s power armoured chest. A boy charged into the blood angel but the powered armoured assault marine dodged the poorly aimed attack. Slowly moving forward the tactical marine Makradon fired off two shots from his bolter reducing an Ork to a bloody smear on the building’s wall.
The Librarian manifested his avenger psychic power and unleashed a gout of flame immolating three of the Orks. The Ork Nob again dodged the Ultramarines attacks, but failed to hit the marine back. The blood angel sliced down the Ork that had engaged him with a nimble twist of his chainsword.
Behind them the two space marines met up with the rest of the kill team, both still firing into the greatly reduced Ork mob. The librarian charged into the Ork Nob impaling the greenskin on his force staff.

Given a quick order by Varenus, The blood angel Sepheran activated his jump pack and headed for the buildings roof, the Ultramarine close behind.
The rest of the squad concentrated fire on the approaching mob firing bolt shell after bolt shell into the horde. With only a handful of boyz left they spotted a larger Ork in huge metal armour clunking its way down the road towards them, previously hidden from view by the Ork mob. Baldar cleared away the remaining Orks with his heavy bolter. The Ork Nob in mega armour charged at them but still out of range slowed down by its thick armour.
The Imperial fist apothecary hit the mega armoured Ork in the head wounding it, but barely slowing its advance.

The two assault marines reached the roof and the blood angel charged in to the Overseer causing the grot crew to flee. The ultramarine using two of his krak grenades on the anti aircraft weapon, detonating in the weapon’s barrel rendering it useless. Stepping over the dead Ork overseer at his feet Sepheran joined Varenus looking at the next emplacement just a few streets away.

Down below Kestyr channelled all of his energies and lighting burst forth from his fingers hitting the meganob’s leg. Kestyr could feel the creatures pain tearing through his mind, its death scream lingering on his senses. The meganob nothing more than a frazzled ruin. Again the apothecary tasted a bit of the Orks flesh, spitting it out when there was nothing of use to be learnt.

The building

The kill team continued on its route towards the next anti aircraft emplacement. The street opened up into a large open area, one would assume this used to be a grass covered park. Now the grass area has all been churned up and covered with shallow explosion craters. At the far end, a mob of Orks gathered at the bottom of the six story building with the gun emplacement. Squad leader Varenus gave tactical advance order over the open ground swiftly, and then to open fire in concert at the large mob of Orks. As soon as they reached ninety metres away the bolt weapons blazed away. The ultramarine and the Blood angel activated their jump packs switching to another Squad attack pattern and furiously charged the Ork mob in close combat. Their astartes chainswords soon clogged with Ork gore. The dark angel and the Dark sentinel fired deadly hellfire shells in to the mob causing devastation to the Ork horde.

The Ork mob now slaughtered by the kill team. The astartes started to clear the building. Baldar strafed the building at the Orks firing back from the first and second floor with Kraken shells. The Ultramarine went in first; slicing his way through the mob the Blood angel and the Librarian close behind. The Librarian focused his powers and with gush of psychic flame cleared the ground floor. The windows burst out with unnatural flame, sprinkling the roads with shattered glass. The Ultramarine kept going up the stairwell to the next floor where he and Sepheran cleared the next floor with them both acting in unison with their chainswords. The windows awash with xenos blood. The Imperial fist and the Dark angel advanced ahead of the two assault marines to the next floor. The Imperial fist stabbing out with his combat knife at the surprised Orks. Makradon hurled in a frag grenade blasting out the windows and the Orks with it.
The two assault marines and the Librarian finished with their grizzly business headed up to the roof. Kestyr blasted the grot crew away with a frag grenade and the two assault marines engaged the Ork overseer. The overseer really didn’t have much hope, but he fought back denting the Blood angels armour with its crude choppa before whirling chainsword teeth sealed his fate. The Imperial fist finished the last floor himself taking down the Orks with his combat blade his silver ornate left arm all red with their blood.

Down below the Space wolf spotted warbikes travelling down the road towards their position, he voxed up to the rest of the squad letting them know of the new enemy targets. Balder opened up with his heavy bolter the heavy recoil felt comfortable in his hands. He could now smell the noxious smog coming off the warbikes powerful engines. The space wolf had long ago taken off his helmet and magnetically clipped it to his armoured belt. Balder had always felt his wolf senses being repressed while he wore his helmet, everything smelled too filtered and sterile.
He could hear bolter firing down at the warbikes from the rooftops. Before long all that was left of the warbikers was smoking ruins littering the roads.

The warboss
From the rooftops the Kill team scanned the area fro the next emplacement, it was easily spotted and it seemed like the next emplacement just beyond it in the middle of a paved plaza area, its weapons looked like crude rockets.
They also spotted what had seemed like the largest Ork mob they had seen so far. Lead by a far larger Ork too.

Sepheran and Varenus flew on to top of the building across the road from the Ork hordes. The Space wolf, Dark angel and Imperial fist made there way through the ground floor of the building opposite the Ork mob and hid behind cover waiting for the signal. The Librarian got himself in position on the ground floor in the building next to the rest of the kill team surrounding the Ork mob. Each member of the kill team readied a frag grenade in each hand.

11 - Grot crew (Gretchin x4 Dark heresy creatures anathema p100)

Once everyone voxed that they were in position Varenus lifted off with his jump pack he looked back and could see that the blood angel was following. As soon as they were above the green sea of Orks they dropped their frag grenades. They exploded into the horde causing destruction to their numbers.
Seeing the signal the rest of the kill team threw in their grenades at the surprised greenskins. Once the smoke had cleared the remaining Orks charged across the road towards there the kill team where readying their weapons. The Ork Warboss in the centre was shouting his orders and urging the boyz on further. The flying blood angel landed in front of the Ork overseer slashing it across the thick chest plate. A section of the building on Ork mobs left flank looked to be covered in frost. The Orks nearest to it could feel it was extremely cold, suddenly out of one of the building ground floor windows a Jet of purple flames engulfed a part of the mob catching the Warboss and burning its arm. The creature spotted the black armoured librarian and bellowed an order at the Orks and charged. The Ultramarine charged in combat with the Ork overseer. His chainsword plunged into its back, and it fell to the floor. The grot crew shot their weapons at the two space marines, causing little effect except for chipping paint.

Back on the ground the apothecary fired off shots with his bolter hitting the Warboss in its leg. The Warboss carried on limping slightly. A combined effort from Makradon and Balder reduced the remaining boyz to mush, leaving only the Nob left. The Ork warboss charged at the librarian its heavy power klaw fizzled with barely contained power, at the last moment Kestyr parried the blow away with his force staff. In a complex twist and whirl with his force staff which left the Warboss bewildered, the force staff slammed into its arm, the astartes psyker pushed all of his mental power along into his staff. Green sparks flew off the Orks skin and it reeled back, disorientated the Ork Warboss swung wildly at the librarian, who was able to dodge the power klaw easily. Ducking under another power klaw swing the librarian smashed the tip of his staff in to the xenos leader’s chest, hearing its mighty ribs crack, throwing the Warboss backwards to the rubble strewn ground. Much to Kestyr's relief the creature didn’t rise up again. In the middle of the road the apothecary charged at the Ork Nob, slashing out with his astartes sized combat blade, slicing across the greenskins arm. The Ork Nob took the imperial fist by surprise and landed a hit on his head causing minor bleeding which healed almost instantly. The Apothecary counter attacked with controlled anger gutting the foul greenskin and letting its corpse fall.

The Assault marines on the rooftop destroyed the anti aircraft weapon. Leaving only the rocket emplacement left.

Episode six - Talon spaceport
The Inquisitorial cell had driven all through the night, when they had stopped Zetkin used her psychic ability to heal Stern and Zarkov. They stopped at dawn so the two drivers could sleep.

The Astropath came too, introduced herself as Octavia. At the party’s request she then sent messages to the starport and to a starship to be relayed to Inquisitor Margallus
Octavia (Astropath Dark heresy core rulebook p336)

Creepers in the wheat
About six hours later blips appeared on the auspex, but they couldn’t see anything. As a cautious measure they decided to get moving again, and the jeep will investigate Cutter and Stern hopped back into the jeep with Zarkov at the wheel stern calling shotgun. The rest got into the truck with Kar driving.
The jeep moved towards the blips, eight in total the blips seemed smaller, Zarkov and stern spotted small green skins making their way through the foliage. The arbiter but is foot down and crushed one under its wheel. Small arms fire started hitting off the jeep chassis. Cutter jumped out of the jeep with his riot shield at the ready. The Jeep then reversed. Stern then took at a shot at the nearest grot wounding it slightly. Cutter took at hit and it forced him behind his riot shield, solid slugs hitting hard against it.
He took a quick shot back reducing a grot to ragged meat. Zarkov aimed the jeep towards four of the smaller greenskins them put his foot down on the accelerator, the first grot managed to jump out of the way in time, two behind it where not so lucky and ended up as a bloody smear on the front of the jeep. Cutter was still being suppressed by grot slugga shots. His retaliation shot being dodged by the agile greenskins. Another shot by cutter hit home, leaving only three of the grotz left. Coming up the road Cutter could see the truck arrive. Cutter managed to pull himself together, the jeep span around and lined itself up sat the other grotz assailing Cutter. Again Zarkov drove straight into the grotz only one managing to escape, jumping to the driver’s side. It fired off a shot which Zarkov dodged, standing up stern fired off his shotgun. Felling the last grot.

Discussion
The party then discussed options as they still hadn’t received responses back to the Astropath. Novus suggested heading to the mountains and waiting for a response from the Inquisitor. But Zetkin advised that there wasn’t enough fuel to get there as it would take another three days. Against Sterns objections they decided to head closer to the surrounded Talon starport

Heading closer they could see various landers and the bastion wall of the starport in ruins. Sounds of battle could be heard from inside, parts of the city were ablaze.

The Astro path shuddered then went rigid “Lt Kovlar, enter in by the east entrance, we will meet you”

So they travelled to the eastern gate a safe distance from the surrounding Ork encampment, they could see the gate was in ruins, the roads littered with debris and Ork makeshift buildings. Failing to see any of the imperial guard waiting to meet them. They decided just to drive in as fast as they could hope to see the imperial guard inside.
Their vehicles engines roared as they approached the eastern gate. Orks looked on dumbfounded as the inquisitorial cell darted in and out avoiding the larger chunks of debris. It wasn’t long before they started to receive fire, one of the shots hit Kar who then lost control of the truck which hit one of the gate pillars, struggling to control the protesting truck it slammed into a building, it continued to move, sliding up the wall sparks flying everywhere. Then with an unhealthy clunk it came to a screeching halt.

The chase
Zarkov, Cutter and Stern in the jeep drove off faster hitting a lone Ork; they noticed that Kars truck had stopped, they turned the corner and behind they could see two crude looking bikes being driven by Orks, the large guns either side of the rider opened up with a roar, sparks flew off the speeding jeep. Up ahead the road turned at a right angle to the left. Cutter threw two blind grenades filling the street corner with dense smoke. Driving in to the smoke Zarkov did a skid turn but the jeep struck the building stalling the Jeep.
The noise of their Ork pursers got closer one of them, unable to see through the smoke smashed straight in to a building. The other skidded in to the building. Zarkov didn’t hesitate and sped on ahead out of the smoke. Followed closely by the Ork biker. Cutter and stern shooting back at it, but failing to do any major injuries to the determined greenskin.  A T junction lay up ahead and Zarkov expertly slid around the corner leaving a larger gap between them and the Ork. Up ahead they spotted what seemed to be part of a building move. As they got closer they made out the shape of an imperial guard sentinel. Its Multilaser opened up on the approaching Ork, vaporising the rider and the bike veered into the building on the right. Zarkov pulled up beside the Sentinel, its operator leaned over, saluted, “we have been waiting for you, you should report to the lieutenant”
Zarkov drove on.

Orks gather
Back at the truck, Kar, Novus, Octavia, Zetkin dash in to the building they had crashed into, they ran up the three floors of stairs and on to the flat roof. Leaning over the edge the noticed Orks coming closer inspecting the truck. Novus and Kar taking pot shots at those below. After a while larger Orks started to approach, and heading up the stairwell that the inquisitorial cell had used.
Kar Ran to the stairwell and waited for the Orks to approach. Soon one turned the corner to be hit by a shotgun, it shrugged off the wound the second shot left him dead. Another one took his place and charged up the stair well and engaged the guardsman in close combat, Kar quickly drew out his sword and dodged the Orks incoming blows, with an adept strike sliced the brutes arm clean off before impaling the Ork on his blade.  Kicking the Ork corpse to the side he looked down the stairwell.

Back at the planetary defence force outpost the arbiter and the two scum met up with Lt Kovlar standing in front of a chimera APC, it was Cutter that spoke first”  The rest of them are trapped at the gate, we need to rescue them”
The lieutenant wasted no time, “can you use las weapons?”
In unison “yes “they lied
“Then get in”
Inside the back of the chimera there were five guardsmen and they all travelled down back the way they came.

Kar looking in horror at the massive Ork that slowly make it’s was up the stairs at him, he crumpled to ground weeping uncontrollably, dropping his sword.
Slowly it approached its massive crude choppa in its hand and a slugga in the other. It reached the sobbing guardsman and shoved its choppa in to his gut, the guardsman crumpled and writhed in pain the Ork Nob slammed the guardsman head in to the floor, then with a spray of blood ripped a massive tear in his arm, the Guardsman vomited in agony then fell unconscious.

From the sky the Orks on what looked like rockets strapped to their back approached the group on the roof. A combined effort from Novus and Zetkin managed to shoot the first one out of the sky the other two landed in front of Zetkin soon all three were locked in a lethal combat.

Novus could hear the conflict in the stairwell and heard the roars of Orks leaving Zetkin to deal with the Ork jump troopers he armed his melta gun, rushed forward and opened up the stairwell door, just down one set of stairs saw the largest Ork he had ever seen. Underneath the Ork Kar lay unconscious and bleeding.  Reeling with shock his shot with the melta gun missed leaving a large hole burnt out of the wall. The Ork nob roared and made his way up the stairs to the shocked tech priest.

The Chimera’s multi laser blazed away making room around the broken truck, the APC stooped the back hatched opened and the guards men got out clearing the path to the  bottom of the stairwell of Orks, Cutter and Zarkov took the lead both with their riot shields raised, Stern followed up behind with his shotgun fully loaded. On the Third floor they came across the first Orks, the nearest one took hits from cutter and Zarkov.  Stern hit the Ork Further up the stairs and dodged incoming fire. Zarkov tried to fire again, but his Shotgun jammed. Slinging the weapon he charged in with his club. Cutter followed in with the arbite. The Ork shooting at stern’s face exploded with shotgun shell.
Taking the initiative ran past to see Kar on the floor bleeding. At the top of the other set of stairs he saw what had caused the injuries on Kar and it seemed to be fighting someone in the doorway. Stern dropped his weapons overcome with fear at the huge green beast; he vomited uncontrollably all over the prone form of Kar.

At the doorway the Ork nob was swinging poorly aimed hits at the tech priest. Novus was hitting but it seemed to be having little effect on the bellowing greenskin. A sweeping hit from the Ork’s choppa hit Novus in the knee knocking him to the floor. Holding his Axe Novus swung t it at the Orks head. Where it struck, leaving red blood running down the blade. Grabbing the blade the Ork chopped off Novus arm at the bicep, spraying the area with blood. His arm trailing blood as it hit the floor a few meters away. Novus passed out

Zetkin on the roof still locked in close combat with a Ork jump trooper, she used her mind and squeezed at the pain centre of the Orks body slowing it so she could deal the killing blow and taking its head off with a laspistol shot. Turning around she could see the other Ork heading towards the frail Astropath. Zetkin fired her laspistol at the Ork it didn’t seem to notice and charged knocking down the Astropath with a hit from its cruel blade. Then it charged at Zetkin as she fired another shot in its direction. Using her psychic powers she attempted to cause it pain, it resisted and carried on its attack, Zetkin dodging its blows. She tried her powers again this time its didn’t resist and more and more the Ork missed the young robed Psyker.

Stern recovered from his shock and lit one of his fire bombs, intent on setting the large ork aflame. He ran up to the door and hit the Ork knob point blank on the back of its head. The burning fuel burned away at the Ork and some of the wash of flames hit sterns leg before quickly burning out. The Ork nob turned around and roared in pain at the incoming humans.

In the stairwell the last remain Ork was taken down, Cutter ran up to see Kar covered in blood and vomit and Vox beaded  for medical assistant which arrive from the two guardsmen that where covering their ascent. Zarkov looked up the stairs to see Stern beating out the flames on his leg. The Arbite unjammed his pump action shotgun.
Cutter ran past Stern and picked up the fallen melta weapon. The Ork Nob missed the Scum with his weapon, Cutter aimed and got a glancing hit in the  monstrosity’s face, its right side melted away but the creature fought on.
Up behind him Zarkov let his shotgun sing out and opened up giant bloody rifts across the Ork Nobs chest, it slumped to the ground in a growing pool of blood.

Zetkin still fought on with the Ork jump trooper, she dodged its swing blade only to be caught in a wicked back swing, pain flashed through her. Looking down she could see her belly had been ripped open, dropping her staff she pressed her hand to her midriff to stop her innards from coming out, her savoir came in the form of Stern drop kicking the Ork towards the edge of the roof, With Zarkov rushing in and smashing the Ork off the roof with his riot shield.

With the Orks killed from the building the guardsman took the injured away in the back of the chimera. It’s multilaser keeping the other Orks at bay. Cutter ripped out one of the Ork Nob's teeth. Soon they where all in the passenger cabin of the chimera heading back to the imperial guard outpost. The wounded were taken away to be tended too.

Planet bound

Zetkin strained to control the shuttle into the planets atmosphere
She steered with great effort so that it would land on solid ground. Angling on the surface to land. Without warning from her cockpit runes the other engine caught on fire as she pulled up on to lessen the angle. Novus helped co-pilot the shuttle with his rudimentary knowledge of piloting.
She landed sliding along the wheat fields, leaving a brown scar on the surface, where the craft had hit the ground. The shuttle had only just come to a halt before the crew bailed out getting to a safe distance away from the gently burning shuttle.

On the surface

Outside the slowly smoking crashed shuttle, they looked about at their surroundings, as far as their eyes could see there was a vast expanse of growing wheat fields with dirt roads separating the various fields.

Gathering their salvaged gear they headed off along the dirt path

The party started their journey with the quiet Astropath they travelled along the dirt path, in the distance they spotted a small outpost. As they got closer they couldn’t see anyone about, the main door was ajar. Further inspection shown it had been abandoned, Novus found himself a terminal, and much to his great relief Zarkov came across a half packet of lho sticks. At the other side of the outpost, Kar came across a few farming vehicles, but it was the heavy truck and all terrain Jeep that interested him mostly. Looking in the cockpit he spotted that the keys to the vehicles were in them.
The small outpost looks to have only contained five families.
The Astropath still refused to speak; she gently drank some water softly weeping.
After some searching they found some fuel and filled up canisters.
Novus gathered info on the inhabitants of the outpost; they had fled to the star port about a week ago, when Orks appeared in system. The Talon starport was only three days drive. Soon they filled up the back of the truck with supplies for the journey.

The Journey

The jeep driven by Zarchov in front with the truck driven by Kar following behind.
Cutter and Stern rode in the jeep, while rest travelled in the back of the truck.

Lying not far from the trail, a large piece of debris that had fallen from the sky, on closer inspection it appeared to be solid chunk Ork debris.

Cutter on sentry as others slept, suddenly saw an Ork landing craft fly dangerous close overhead heading in the direction of the Talon spaceport.

As night progressed Zarkov drove in front his lights turned off and wearing the night vision goggles Novus had lent him. Kar following Zarkov’s rear lights in the truck behind. Suddenly he registered movement up ahead, a screeching whistling sound accompanied the object moving fast towards him. With a breakneck turn he drove in to the wheat field on his left not stopping, an explosion shook the ground where he was just moments ago, the truck behind was scattered with mud as the ground in front erupted. Kar swerved the truck to the right avoiding the crater the missile had left behind.
Zarkov reading his auspex, four blips lay up ahead; he drove straight into them and was rewarded with a squeal and a squelching noise.

Ork Patrol

Up ahead a crude Ork ground vehicle could be seen heading in their direction its engine spewing black smoke. Zarkov swiftly drove deep in to the wheat fields. And made a small clearing and waited for the Ork trukk to pass. However it didn’t pass. It stopped at the trail that Zarkov had made into the wheat. The inquisitorial cell hearing the Ork trukk’s engine stop, got out and readied their weapons .Zarkov, Kar and Cutter headed in to the wheat and hid, Zarkov hid behind his scopulus pattern riot shield on the left of the track that he had shaped with the Jeep, he read his auspex noting five blips, coming up the direction of the trail. He could see the Guardsman Kar not far from him evaluating his position. Cutter was on the other side of the trail in the wheat closer to the vehicles, his weapon raised. The rest stayed in the solid cover of the truck.

(Ork boyz x3 Dark heresy creatures anathema p98)

Zarkov hidden in the wheat could see on his auspex that two of the blips had broken off into his direction, he could hear a wet sniffing noise. Cutter and Kar waited until the greenskins where in sight. Soon three Orks turned the corner and came into view.
Cutter opened up with his autogun on full auto in to the nearest one. It roared savagely and ran towards his assailant. Cutter still firing on full auto as the Ork closed the gap between them, he could see that he had hit the beast but it seems not to notice. Soon it was standing before him.

Kar let lose on another Ork, it too closed the gap letting off a poorly aimed shot off at the guardsman. Soon they were engaged in brutal melee combat. Kar dodged the Orks ruthless swings with its cruel choppa. Then pulled out his own blade

As soon as it one of the blips got uncomfortably near he fired off a shot from his shotgun. Towering above him stood an Ork at his side, carrying a whip, and it fired a shot that penetrated both the arbites riot shield and armour in the leg, he toppled to the ground, the large toothed and now angry squig lunged at him only to bite into the riot shield and the nuzzle of a the arbites veritas pattern shotgun, Zarkov pulled the trigger, the back of the squigs bulbous head exploded out. The squigs handler lashed out at him with his whip keeping the arbiter suppressed

The last unengaged Ork charged towards the rest of the party in the vehicles. Stern jumped up and charged at the Ork. The greenskin struck out at the outlaw smashing him hard Sterns leg bleeding heavily, the outlaw fell back against the jeep.
Kar and Cutter both took down their green foes and ran to help Stern. Novus and Zetkin then joined in on the combat the force of numbers the Ork was overwhelmed.
The Psyker used her abilities and used warp energies to knit Sterns wound back together.

Stern snapped out a large Ork tooth from the one that had injured him

Cutter, Kar and Novus ran to help the beleaguered arbite. It was Kar who had the killing blow against the Ork squig handler, slicing its arm off in a spray of blood.
They all breathed heavy as the last of the Orks life left him.

They could all hear that thee was still some Orks waiting at the trukk.
Stern sneaked up on the Ork trukk through the wheat, he lit his fire bomb and hurled in to the open topped cabin area. With a wash of heat the cabin went on fire, setting the three Ork passengers aflame. The trukk dashed forward and made a skid turn throwing the burning passengers from the trukk. The driver drove back up the track the Ork gunner scanning the area for signs of movement. Stern ran and the Ork gunner let rip with the high velocity weapon. The shots landed all around sterns running feet, lucky to have not been hit. He joined everyone in the vehicles, he got in the jeep and the party headed off as fast as they could.

Escape on the dirt track

Solid slugs from the vehicles big shoota strafed across the Jeep hitting cutter, but absorbed by his carapace armour.

Novus lay flat on the back of the truck, resting his meltagun on the back facing towards the Ork truck. The truck slowed to let the Orks get closer. Novus then fired.
The meltagun hit the left side of the trukk reducing it to molten metal, the Ork driver roared and the Ork gunner fired wildly at the red robed firer of the Melta weapon, the shots bounced off harmlessly off the tech priests newly acquired carapace armour. The Ork trukk slowed. Zarkov put his foot down and drove off with Kar close, leaving the Orks far behind him

The Immunda Ferus Incident

In the early days of the great crusade many planets had little or no life to be important other than its location.
These beacon worlds as they came to be known, have a simple shrine with a transmitter that emits a constant bleep. The theory behind it is if this signal ever stopped transmitting, then an expeditionary force would be sent to investigate for danger. Planet WO-415 Enkius was one of these early warning measures. It's surface a dull desolate grey undisturbed for years.
All this is about to change.

Orks

Zogdakkas eyes burst open with a greenish orange light, belching blue steam as the space hulk Lurched into real space. His grot attendants hid in various areas of cover, they had long been used to the weirdboys odd behaviour, even by Ork standards it was considered odd, but now they had arrived. The Weirdboys gibbering had stopped, that he found most worrying. For that reason he had him moved to his command deck. Warboss Urgot Facesmasha grunted on this crude throne, made from archaic pieces of past fallen enemies, shaped in to the form of a massive Ork jaw. he looked out at the expanse of space and a grey planet filled the main viewpoint. He felt the ork gods Gork and Mork guide him here and his weirdboy's behaviour confirmed it. With a deafening bellow he yelled "THAT'S RIGHT LADZ, GET TO THE DROPSHIPS, ITS TIME FOR A FIGHT"
Unaware who he would be fighting, all he knew was the gods wouldn't have sent him otherwise.

Word Bearers
Kol Paxheydra, The Void Pilgrim
Kol Paxheydra, The Void Pilgrim

Kol Paxheydra had been watching the Orks ever since they made re-materialised back in to realspace, he watched with interest as they manoeuvred towards the beacon planet. he knew that if the beacon was ever destroyed then imperial forces would move into the sector, they would be easily destroyed but more imperials would arrive after, he couldn't afford any complications, not now. He clenched his fist, he wouldn't let any savage greenskin ruin his well laid plans. He signalled to one of his red clad champions, "Tell Eagar to prepare his bezerkers. we have some greenskins to deal with"
He felt his daemon weapon in his armoured gauntlet twitch in anticipation of the battle to come.

The rest of the Ork army arrives in darkness of the morning

Ork army rushes on to the battlefield.

Word bearers Rhino with Khorne Bezerkers gets Shaken

Word bearers prepare for the Orks advance after their rhino was immobilised to a crude ork Rokkit hit.

The Footslogga boyz around the weirdboy Zogdakka looked uneasy as he began to glow and green sparks fluttered from his eyes. a sudden convulsion shook the ork psyker off the ground and he landed with a resounding thud, the nearest Ork boy head burst open, the rest of the boyz gave the bewildered wierdboy a wide berth from his 'eadbanger.

Following the icon bearer out of the immobilised rhino transport, the veteran champion could see the vile greenskins coming closer out of the ruined compound, they where closer than he liked. with a bark he gave the order to rapid fire. The squad opened fire killing a chunk out of the approaching horde. Behind him he heard a fizzle and an agonising scream. Without turning back he knew his plasma guns has overheated killing their users.

Turn 2 -Dawn breaks

Orks try some flanking

The Footsloggaz get closer, the weirdboy frazzles the icon bearer and two other chaos space marines.
The Orks charge in to combat  with the word bearers taking heavy causalities but they hold their ground.
Soon the chaos dreadnought arrives and wastes no time getting into combat.

Crazed Dreadnought gets ready to join in the melee

With cries to the blood god the Khorne bezerkers led by Kol Paxheydra leave their stricken rhino to get stuck into combat.

Word Bearers and Orks continue their ferocious melee

With the rest of the word bearers killed the dreadnought keeps the orks occupied.

Clutching his cursed crozius in both hands he chanted the sacred words, purple winds blew at the holy words of his legion he had pinned to his armour. the winds blew faster, with an audible rip, the warp burst into reality bring forth seductive daemonettes, before closing with a sharp crack like broken bones behind them.

Daemonettes arrive, readying to charge the Ork nobz
Khorne champion Eagar the Red's bezerkers weather the storm of Ork fire before charging in.

With a blood curdling war cry the bezerkers charge in and reduce the Deffkoptaz to scrap.

The Daemonettes quickly follow suit and its not long before they are covered in Ork gore

Daemonettes prove to be more difficult to dispatch that the ork nobz had hoped.

Turn 3

With no hope to destroying the chaos dreadnought, green mist surrounded the Footsloggaz, slowly they began to glow, then with a flash of yellow the orks teleported behind the dreadnought. Boyz surrounding the Weirdboy who was drooling blood. The Orks let loose a rokkit that jammed itself in the warmachines leg gears before detonating, The chaos dreadnought screamed through its vox caster in frustration as it tried to move.

Chaos Dreadnought immobilised and with no targets in range to smash.

Khorne bezerkers find themselves surrounded

The trukk boyz and the dreadnought get ready to charge into the Khorne bezerkers

Kol Paxheydra The Void Pilgrim, Khorne champion Eagar the Red and three bezerkers are all that remains against the combined attack that now lay bleeding on the ground. The smoking ruins of the deff dread ley strewn about Eagars feet as he roared in unrestrained bloodlust.

Survivors roar in triumph after the Trukkboyz and deff dread charge.

Another break in reality spews an obliterator and it immediately sets the footsloggaz aflame.
With help from the immobilised dreadnoughts heavy flamer.

Only a heavily wounded weirdboy and nob remain.

Ork stromboyz rip smash the rear of the Rhino leaving it permanently immobilised.

Kol Paxheydra charged up the hill, over the wreckage of the Ork warmachine, towards where his summoned daemons where in combat with the Ork command, he could see the Ork Warboss smashing a daemon in to rippling flesh as they were banished back into the warp realm. behind him he could hear the battle cries to khorne coming from his frenzied retinue. He could feel the daemon weapon urging him on further and slay the warboss.

Khorne champion Eagar the Red lingers in the background as his master Kol Paxheydra, The Void Pilgrim is locked in mortal combat with Warboss Urgot Facesmasha

Warboss Urgot Facesmasha  was tiring of these daemons, it was then that he had spotted the red armoured chaos lord coming straight for him. his opponent showed incredible speed and the warboss took a horrible wound to the chest that would of killed anybody else, his ork physiology is all that saved him. the warbosses power klaw smashing through the back of an unfortunate bezerker. before turning his attention back to the chaos lord, after a few missed attacks he managed to get a lucky hit that connected solidly and knocked the chaos lord down the hill out of sight. His Roar of triumph be came a gurgle as he collapsed to the floor.
The rest of urgots nobz mob ran as they saw their warboss get taken down from behind by an ornate bezerker with a fizzing power fist.
Turn 4

The two wounded orks contest the objective from the obliterator before getting wiped out.

The stormboyz charge the hard to kill daemonettes

Khorne champion Eagar the Red leads the slaughter of the Grots to take the objective

Turn 5

The stromboyz finally kill the last of the daemonettes leaving only a wounded nob.

The ork trukk came close to contest the objective from the bezerkers before the obliterator killed both the trukk and stormboy nob with a burst from its heavy flamer.

The Word Bearer survivors

For the second time today Kol Paxheydra, The Void Pilgrim slowly climbed up the ragged hill, his body filled with extreme pain. wondering to himself, but thankful that the chaos gods have saved him, his task wasn't yet complete. At the top of the hill he had also noticed that the Ork warboss that had caused him so much grief, it's body was missing. He was pleased at the carnage that his Khorne champion Eagar the Red had caused, after checking the ruins he gathered that beacon was still transmitting. now it was time to leave this forsaken planet this venture has cost too much already.
