Episode one- Vi Nadic Code

Part two

"Cutter", "Stern", Zetkin, Zarkov, and Dorn are in the Room of brothers when the doors closed with a heavy thud and a whirr as it locked leaving them trapped inside.
Everyone notices carved into the back of the double doors is a giant Raven with its wings spread, in the centre of the raven is a large X.
The Tech priest get to the back of the Primarch Roboute Guilliman's statue and attempts to work out combinations into the illuminated keypad.

The Psyker Zetkin feels a pull on the warp in her mind, and she drops to her knees as she tries to control the overwhelming power. A deep boom filled the room and a sudden orange flash and in front of them appeared Kar, Feral World Guardsman. he explained to the trapped Inquisitorial Cell that he was on board a small warship heading to this planet on the request of Inquisitor Margallus. unfortunately Warp travel had delayed him. The warship is now heading to re-enforce the front line against the Ork invasion. The rest of the party put down their guns as Kar showed everyone his Inquisitorial pass. Novus dorn continued working on combinations, suddenly a hissing sounds starts. on a successful Int test it is revealed as Poison gas.

The Party continued their search to find clues to the code.
a Successful Search, perception or awareness test reveal a Raven on the statues of Primarchs Lion El' Johnson, Roboute Guilliman and Corax. Each of the Ravens have a Carved I on to them.
With Time running out, it was Arbite trooper Zarkov who supplied the answer of 13 (XIII). the Tech priest backed off as he entered the code and with a hiss of steam the statues plinth opened up and stairs led down into a dark chamber. Stern noted that the poison has stopped filling the room. The Tech Priest enabled his night vision and descended in to the depths with the party close behind.

Into the depths

The chamber that the descended in was a small and square with a single hatch in the floor which led down into darkness. It was the tech priest who took the lead with his night vision enabled, opened the hatch and took the ladder down in to the depths. Once he was down he accessed a nearby panel and soon the corridor lights slowly began to illuminate the darkness.
soon the party all joined Novus in the large corridor. To their left was a large closed double door, to their right the corridor continued then it turned right.
Stern and Novus managed to open the closed doors to their left and find a small and simple private shrine, a large Aquila is attached to the wall in front. simple tabards, white with the Messengers chapter symbol adorned to the chest, hung from the side wall. Below the Aquila a small amount of ancient throne gelt lay scattered on the floor (1d10) along with small writings and scriptures all written in archaic gothic.

With weapons drawn the Inquisitorial cell travelled down the subterranean corridors.

They travel down these corridors passing empty rooms with simple beds and they notice that they have been descending lower and lower. The Cells first thoughts are that this complex has been not used for a very long time.

Until up ahead the noticed a bright white light and a buzzing sound coming from a room up ahead on their right. They slowly and cautiously entered the room. Inside the room with filled with large man sized Lab tubes inside Grotesque forms.

A routine perception, awareness test reveals the Fleur de lis tattooed upon the creatures in the tubes.

The Bio -read outs suggest that these muscle bound creatures are dead. Novus interfaces with the nearest terminal and the super fast information he gathers reveal some shocking information. one of the words that stick out to him are Gene-Seed
from the information gathered tells the group that these are adeptus sororitas that have been subjected to Gene-seed manipulation codenamed Sororitas Astartes. Sister Repentia's have been used but most have become unstable, once implantation effects has begin. These are recruited from the planets own "Order of the crimson tear"

An ear splitting roar from the next room breaks their concentration. Kar and Cutter flank either side of the door that the noise came from. Zarkov flipped over a nearby desk and readied himself behind it. Stern stood next to him. behind them Novus was downloading information to the memory section of his part mechanical brain.

The doors slid open automatically as they went near. In the room was a Tech priest at a terminal and next to him looking confused at the inquisitorial cell looking at him was a brute over 7' tall, dressed in a simple white robe.

Cutter fired first at the rogue tech priest but his shot missed. The rogue tech priest ran behind his creation . The hulking creature closed the gap and took a hit from the Scum Cutter. Its wounds healed fast, and it got close to cutter and with a heavy thud it punched and threw him against the wall, and landed at the creatures feet. With surprising quickness cutter dived through the creatures legs into the next room. the rest of the party opened fire at the hulking creation, after doing what seemed very little damage, each of the party jumped in to melee, the creature also proved to be hard to hit. Kar doing minor damage with his sword, Stern had activated his newly acquired chainsword but failed to land a hit.
Meanwhile in the next room the rogue tech priest took a return shot back at the scum on the ground. cutter was hit and ran and hid behind the terminal the tech priest was at previously, while the rogue took a firing position behind an upright surgical table. Cutter regained his Calm and fired a shot with his pistol and it hit the rogue tech priest in the face, knocking him back, his head a sparking ruin.

The crowded melee continued with neither side gaining the upper hand until, with luck more than skill, Stern the hive scum landed lucky and sliced the creature's leg off at the knee with a spray of blood. The creature fell back and Stern plunged the chainsword deep into its chest, covering the party and most of the room in gore.

The Fortress monastery

Confirming the inquisitorial cells thought, the terminal reveals that this is the apothecarion of the Messengers Chapter, and they are deep underground in the chapters fortress Monastery. After Some help from Cutter, Novus was able to load up a holomap of the facilities, they where directly beneath the Vi Nadic Cathedral. After planning their route to ascend to the barrack, Armoury, hanger then chapter chapel.

Barracks - empty bunks
Armoury - Apart from some primitive Melee weapons nothing was left behind by the chapter.
Hanger - The large hanger lay empty apart from some loading servitors long since out of commission
higher up the complex is the Chapel inside is a grand hall, with large metal benches. in
front is a dais. with a book of astartes prayers. on the back wall lies another large Aquila. behind the dais and under Aquila is a small tomb, after reading the high gothic on the tomb, it is Lazerus Vi Nadic's tomb.

Next it was time to leave via the cathedral, following the map from the holoscreen, they ascend to a small room at the back of the Cathedral they opened the door.
The small stone dungeon contained ten sister repentias chained to the walls by their hands. Novus showed them what they would become via the captured rogue tech priest data slate, the chained sisters started chanting "we are the future of the ecclesiarchy" they continued after the arbite shot one dead. Cutter was unhappy and Stern had to stop them coming to blows. Zarkov wanted to kill the heretics and Cutter didn't want to kill innocents leaving them to the emperors will. in the end all ten where slain , and now it was time to escape the Cathedral.

The deception
Through the door lies the Senior priest Ravion private chambers. In the room , prayer service can heard in the main hall. the party from Novus they all adorned priestly robes.once the sermon had ended and the crowd began to leave, the party followed suit. Kar attracted some odd looks, and was followed into the street and them to the Inquisition and Administratum offices.
novus sent word to Inquisitor margallus to get in contact.

Imperial Guard tanks found

Imperial Guard tanks found

After almost half a year and a house move, i have finally managed to find my lost imperial guard tanks. A Leman Russ battle tank,Leman Russ Demolisher, two Chimeras and a Sentinel.  I stopped painting my imperial guard army for that reason, and i them moved on to my Orks.

So i think its time i re-visit the guard army and continue to paint it up.

The Great Distraction

The Great Distraction

In keeping with my gaming hopes for 2012. I wanted to finish of my Menoth 25 point force for Warmachine.  i already had most of it completed, I was left with only one unit to paint.
5 Exemplar Cinerators.

They built together really easily without too much preparation needed.
next step I based them with sand and basecoated them.

Now they are ready to be painted, but wait .......

That's right the Distraction that came in the form of Warmaster ancients

with the 1000pt Norman army that I bought from Baccus6mm in September 2011.

Needless to say this army was also in the gaming hopes for 2012, but it was a much larger task than the five Cinerators, but before I long I'd forgotten about the drying Cinerators and had began building up the Norman spearmen, archers  and the two characters.

Here is my progress so far

Norman Spearmen

Painted force at the moment

I've wanted to paint this force up for a long time, and plan to keep steaming ahead with the army, but I'll put away a few days to complete the Cinerators. I do kind of feel bad as I got back into playing Warmachine just before the new year. so I really wanted to have a completed force and seeing that it was only five miniatures shouldn't be that difficult. but alas I painted up 121 6mm soldiers instead.

The Immunda Ferus Incident - Warhammer 40'000 battle report

Battle report
Orks Versus Word Bearers
1000pts

The Immunda Ferus Incident

In the early days of the great crusade many planets had little or no life to be important other than its location.
These beacon worlds as they came to be known, have a simple shrine with a transmitter that emits a constant bleep. The theory behind it is if this signal ever stopped transmitting, then an expeditionary force would be sent to investigate for danger. Planet WO-415 Enkius was one of these early warning measures. It's surface a dull desolate grey undisturbed for years.
All this is about to change.

Orks

Zogdakkas eyes burst open with a greenish orange light, belching blue steam as the space hulk Lurched into real space. His grot attendants hid in various areas of cover, they had long been used to the weirdboys odd behaviour, even by Ork standards it was considered odd, but now they had arrived. The Weirdboys gibbering had stopped, that he found most worrying. For that reason he had him moved to his command deck. Warboss Urgot Facesmasha grunted on this crude throne, made from archaic pieces of past fallen enemies, shaped in to the form of a massive Ork jaw. he looked out at the expanse of space and a grey planet filled the main viewpoint. He felt the ork gods Gork and Mork guide him here and his weirdboy's behaviour confirmed it. With a deafening bellow he yelled "THAT'S RIGHT LADZ, GET TO THE DROPSHIPS, ITS TIME FOR A FIGHT"
Unaware who he would be fighting, all he knew was the gods wouldn't have sent him otherwise.

Word Bearers
Kol Paxheydra, The Void Pilgrim
Kol Paxheydra, The Void Pilgrim

Kol Paxheydra had been watching the Orks ever since they made re-materialised back in to realspace, he watched with interest as they manoeuvred towards the beacon planet. he knew that if the beacon was ever destroyed then imperial forces would move into the sector, they would be easily destroyed but more imperials would arrive after, he couldn't afford any complications, not now. He clenched his fist, he wouldn't let any savage greenskin ruin his well laid plans. He signalled to one of his red clad champions, "Tell Eagar to prepare his bezerkers. we have some greenskins to deal with"
He felt his daemon weapon in his armoured gauntlet twitch in anticipation of the battle to come.

The Mission

The mission played was a Seize ground and 3 objectives where generated.(neon green flags)

Deployment was  Dawn of War.
Orks win deployment and first turn

Deployment

An objective marker is behind the building in the foreground.

Bezerker Rhino

Turn 1 - Night fighting

The rest of the Ork army arrives in darkness of the morning

Ork army rushes on to the battlefield.

Word bearers Rhino with Khorne Bezerkers gets Shaken

Word bearers prepare for the Orks advance after their rhino was immobilised to a crude ork Rokkit hit.

The Footslogga boyz around the weirdboy Zogdakka looked uneasy as he began to glow and green sparks fluttered from his eyes. a sudden convulsion shook the ork psyker off the ground and he landed with a resounding thud, the nearest Ork boy head burst open, the rest of the boyz gave the bewildered wierdboy a wide berth from his 'eadbanger.

Following the icon bearer out of the immobilised rhino transport, the veteran champion could see the vile greenskins coming closer out of the ruined compound, they where closer than he liked. with a bark he gave the order to rapid fire. The squad opened fire killing a chunk out of the approaching horde. Behind him he heard a fizzle and an agonising scream. Without turning back he knew his plasma guns has overheated killing their users.

Turn 2 -Dawn breaks

Orks try some flanking

The Footsloggaz get closer, the weirdboy frazzles the icon bearer and two other chaos space marines.
The Orks charge in to combat  with the word bearers taking heavy causalities but they hold their ground.
Soon the chaos dreadnought arrives and wastes no time getting into combat.

Crazed Dreadnought gets ready to join in the melee

With cries to the blood god the Khorne bezerkers led by Kol Paxheydra leave their stricken rhino to get stuck into combat.

Word Bearers and Orks continue their ferocious melee

With the rest of the word bearers killed the dreadnought keeps the orks occupied.

Clutching his cursed crozius in both hands he chanted the sacred words, purple winds blew at the holy words of his legion he had pinned to his armour. the winds blew faster, with an audible rip, the warp burst into reality bring forth seductive daemonettes, before closing with a sharp crack like broken bones behind them.

Daemonettes arrive, readying to charge the Ork nobz
Khorne champion Eagar the Red's bezerkers weather the storm of Ork fire before charging in.

With a blood curdling war cry the bezerkers charge in and reduce the Deffkoptaz to scrap.

The Daemonettes quickly follow suit and its not long before they are covered in Ork gore

Daemonettes prove to be more difficult to dispatch that the ork nobz had hoped.

Turn 3

With no hope to destroying the chaos dreadnought, green mist surrounded the Footsloggaz, slowly they began to glow, then with a flash of yellow the orks teleported behind the dreadnought. Boyz surrounding the Weirdboy who was drooling blood. The Orks let loose a rokkit that jammed itself in the warmachines leg gears before detonating, The chaos dreadnought screamed through its vox caster in frustration as it tried to move.

Chaos Dreadnought immobilised and with no targets in range to smash.

Khorne bezerkers find themselves surrounded

The trukk boyz and the dreadnought get ready to charge into the Khorne bezerkers

Kol Paxheydra The Void Pilgrim, Khorne champion Eagar the Red and three bezerkers are all that remains against the combined attack that now lay bleeding on the ground. The smoking ruins of the deff dread ley strewn about Eagars feet as he roared in unrestrained bloodlust.

Survivors roar in triumph after the Trukkboyz and deff dread charge.

Another break in reality spews an obliterator and it immediately sets the footsloggaz aflame.
With help from the immobilised dreadnoughts heavy flamer.

Only a heavily wounded weirdboy and nob remain.

Ork stromboyz rip smash the rear of the Rhino leaving it permanently immobilised.

Kol Paxheydra charged up the hill, over the wreckage of the Ork warmachine, towards where his summoned daemons where in combat with the Ork command, he could see the Ork Warboss smashing a daemon in to rippling flesh as they were banished back into the warp realm. behind him he could hear the battle cries to khorne coming from his frenzied retinue. He could feel the daemon weapon urging him on further and slay the warboss.

Khorne champion Eagar the Red lingers in the background as his master Kol Paxheydra, The Void Pilgrim is locked in mortal combat with Warboss Urgot Facesmasha

Warboss Urgot Facesmasha  was tiring of these daemons, it was then that he had spotted the red armoured chaos lord coming straight for him. his opponent showed incredible speed and the warboss took a horrible wound to the chest that would of killed anybody else, his ork physiology is all that saved him. the warbosses power klaw smashing through the back of an unfortunate bezerker. before turning his attention back to the chaos lord, after a few missed attacks he managed to get a lucky hit that connected solidly and knocked the chaos lord down the hill out of sight. His Roar of triumph be came a gurgle as he collapsed to the floor.
The rest of urgots nobz mob ran as they saw their warboss get taken down from behind by an ornate bezerker with a fizzing power fist.
Turn 4

The two wounded orks contest the objective from the obliterator before getting wiped out.

The stormboyz charge the hard to kill daemonettes

Khorne champion Eagar the Red leads the slaughter of the Grots to take the objective

Turn 5

The stromboyz finally kill the last of the daemonettes leaving only a wounded nob.

The ork trukk came close to contest the objective from the bezerkers before the obliterator killed both the trukk and stormboy nob with a burst from its heavy flamer.

The Word Bearer survivors

For the second time today Kol Paxheydra, The Void Pilgrim slowly climbed up the ragged hill, his body filled with extreme pain. wondering to himself, but thankful that the chaos gods have saved him, his task wasn't yet complete. At the top of the hill he had also noticed that the Ork warboss that had caused him so much grief, it's body was missing. He was pleased at the carnage that his Khorne champion Eagar the Red had caused, after checking the ruins he gathered that beacon was still transmitting. now it was time to leave this forsaken planet this venture has cost too much already.
